TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

 

  1. Students must adhere to the Health Academics Terms & Conditions and Code of Ethics at all times.
  2. STUDENTS MAY BE CALLED UPON TO ATTEND A VTCT EXTERNAL VERIFICATION DAY AT THE CENTRE. THESE ARE HELD TWICE A YEAR AND IS A COMPULSORY UNDERSTANDING AND AGREED BY YOU IF YOU WISH TO TAKE UP A VTCT COURSE WITH HEALTH ACADEMICS. THIS APPLIES TO ALL VTCT ACCREDITED CENTRES, SCHOOL OR TRAINING ESTABLISHMENTS.  If you refuse without responsible reason this could effect the issuing of your certificate/diploma.
  3. All students must act and behave in an appropriate manner. Any act that compromises the health and safety of other students and/or may potentially damage the reputation of Health Academics may result in the candidate/student being dismissed from the course. Such a decision rests solely with the Director.
  4. Being under the suspected influence of either alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden at the centre and on the premises and will incur immediate suspension from the course.
  5. Health Academics will not tolerate any abuse, either physical or verbal, towards members of staff, fellow students, clients or models.
  6. Health Academics accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to valuables or possessions while on Health Academics premises.
  7. Health Academics reserves the rights over the design, text, graphics and  images of/used in course materials, handouts, websites, prospectuses and all other literature. All of the aforementioned remain within the copyright of Health Academics and the use/reproduction of any materials, or content therein, including reproduction for purposes of alteration, modification, distribution or republication, without prior written consent from Health Academics is strictly prohibited.
  8. All Health Academics courses incur a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of £75 in order to secure a place. This will then be off-set against the balance due.
  9. Full payment of the relevant course fee must be received 10 days commencement of the course.
  10. Any student absent or cancelling attendance on the first day of any new  course will lose 50% of the total course fee. Non-attendance due to illness or personal circumstances will require proof in the form of a doctor’s letter or similar.
  11. If  part of a course has to be postponed for any personal reason a student will be expected to complete this part of the course within the next two months or they will be required to attend a refresher day to consolidate previous practical knowledge before attending this section of the course missed.
  12. Students must dress appropriately for ALL courses and are required to wear black tunics and  Black  trousers or plain black tee-shirts and flat, black  closed-toe shoes with soft soles.
  13. No jewellery, other than plain wedding bands, is allowed. However this must be removed with any electrical treatments.
  14. Students hair must be clean and must be worn tied back from the face.
  15. Any head gear, with the exception of religious headscarves and turbans, should NOT be worn. Any head coverings worn for religious purpose must be either black or white with no loose, trailing ends.
  16. Students must not wear nail extensions, nail varnish or any nail strengthening gel whilst on courses.
  17. Each student is required to fill in a consultation/health form before commencement of any Health Academics course. It is the responsibility of each student to provide full and accurate information regarding illnesses, conditions, allergies, medications and so on.
  18. Students are responsible for their own well-being and health throughout the duration of the course.
  19. Refreshments will be available during break times. However, any student suffering from allergies or with special dietary requirements, should be aware that Health Academics has no control over the ingredients of the refreshments available and takes no responsibility for clients suffering allergic reactions. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the Centre, in writing, of any of allergic/dietary requirements prior to commencement of the course. Nut allergy sufferers should be aware that nut oils are used throughout the centre during training and that attendance is entirely at students’ own risk.
  20. The chewing of gum and eating during study/training times is positively discouraged. Consumption of food stuffs is restricted to scheduled break times only.
  21. Health Academics reserves the right to change course layout, content, materials, tutors, training dates, course requirements without prior notice. However, any changes to course dates will be discussed prior to alteration.
  22. All students are responsible for providing their own clients/models for home practise and case studies. However, Health Academics will endeavour to provide models for assessment days where required. Students travelling from further afield should give advance notice to ensure that a model is arranged by Health Academics in time for assessments. You will be required to work on male and female clients through the course. Some courses require students to work  on each other without clothing ( although underwear is acceptable to be worn on all courses).If you have any issues with working on the opposite or same sex please discuss with centre.
  23. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that their clients/models do not have nut allergies prior to being a practical model.
  24. All students are required to practise new skills in their own time.
  25. Children are not allowed to accompany students when training.
  26. Mobile phones must be switched off in the training rooms at all times. If child care or emergency reasons please give the college number.
  27. Health Academics reserves the right to decline applicants for valid reasons.
  28. Health Academics operates an equal opportunities policy.
  29. Health Academics operates an equal opportunities policy for disabilities and will endeavour to accommodate any student, regardless of disability, wherever possible. Please discuss your requirements with Suzie Howe, the principal, prior to the booking of any course. Health Academics has wheelchair access, a disabled wet room, disabled toilets and the capacity to accommodate one wheelchair bound person per course.
  30. Health Academics operates a non- smoking policy.
  31. All students are required to read the Health and Safety policy at the beginning of the course.
  32. Health Academics operates an appeals procedure.
  33. Students are not permitted to practice as a professional therapist in the field in which they are studying until successful completion of examinations has been received in writing from Health Academics.
  34. All client and student information held at Health Academics is strictly confidential and any information taken from clients must not be divulged to a third party. Name and address forms remain at Health Academics and must not be removed.
  35. Assignments will be marked and feedback will be sent back within 7 days of receiving them. Please back up a copy for your own records.
