Seven years ago Suzie decided to leave the bright lights of London to find the perfect location to create her dream training centre, Health Academics Ltd. She has a huge range of experience and knowledge and is constantly updating her own skills, she has travelled extensively for both pleasure and vocational research purposes and is well-respected as both a practitioner and tutor.
Suzie is fully-qualified in the following disciplines:
Nutritional consultant- 11 yearsAs a masseuse and therapist, Suzie has worked on the British Rugby team, international tennis players and athletes. The impressive list of prestigious health clubs where she has worked includes: Holmes Place, David Lloyd and the exclusive Harbour Club in Chelsea. Suzie still makes regular trips to London to treat several retained clients from her city days and also has a thriving practice in a treatment room at Health Academics.
She has also spent the past 16 years sharing her expertise by teaching at a variety of colleges throughout the country. These include: Watford FE College, Fulham & Chelsea FE College (Hortensia), St. Mary's College, Surrey, Filton FE College, Bristol and Norton Radstock FE College. Suzie has taught small private courses in health clubs and given many presentations to small and large groups of students and health professionals.
Suzie also has a degree in fashion and textiles from St. Martin's School of Art, London, which she intends to draw on in the future when she designs her own range of spa/salon work wear.
Since starting Health Academics Suzie has been researching into qualfications and curriculum structuring and aims to be more involved with this side of the industry. She attends meetings, conferences and workshops with all the awarding bodies( VTCT, ITEC,City and Guilds and Btec ) to further her knowledge and understanding of the changes in the Complementary and beauty industry.
FUTURE PLANS-Further training in Ayurvedic techniques, Raindrop therapy, develop and develop CPD one day and advanced technique courses with guest tutors for September 2010 . Publish two reference books for Aromatherapy and Reflexology in 2011.
She is currently in her final year of studies on a PGCE (professional graduate certificate in Education) Course. Finishing in June 2010.

I am proud to have Jan Kusmirek teaching SLAVIC MASSAGE at Health Academics
Jan is one of the world's leading Aromatherapists. His creations are found in a number of skin care,spa and Aromatherapy ranges around the world. His private practice grew into a consultancy that has taken Aromatherapy to new dimensions. Well known in the profession for his committee work, especially in legal and parliamentary affairs, he helped with the establishment and regulation of the Aromatherapy profession. A prolific writer on the subject, his many articles , published in numerous professional journals, have kept readers up to date wwith trends and the latest technical developments.
Qualified not only in Aromatherapy, but also Medical Herbalism and Naturopathy, he has a wide spectrum of practical experience to contribute.
In the early eighties he teamed up with Alban Muller now president of the french cosemetic valley assocation to change the face of the Natural Products and Cosemtics industry. He was always keen to blend science and nature and has directed his energy into 'Green Intelligence'.
His first UK brand development was 'origins' now owned by Estee Lauder and his second was 'Elemis' the primary UK spa brand. His third was 'Aroma Therapeutics' and the new luxury brand ' Osciem'.
Latterly he has become well known for his creative perfumery especially using naturals. His work can be found in many brands.
Jan introduced Slavic Massage, the oldest and truest form of classical Aromatherapy to the UK.
LUCY GEARING
Subjects to be taught - Baby massage, lymph drainage, Beauty ( we will be working with Holistic beauty treatments), eye treatments, waxing, manicure and pedicure. she is also involved in the development of the new CPD courses starting in September 2010
Lucy has been in the field of health and well-being for the past 16 years. she has spent most of her career working at her clinic in Somerset and has also worked as a therapist in some of the local Hotel Spas including Babington House where she delivered bespoke courses to the clients. She has delivered a variety of courses in the local area, working for the Somerset County Council training provider and local colleges. Lucy has worked with a very diverse learning groups from those with learning disabilities to Level 3 anatomy & physiology. On qualifying to Level 5 teaching she then developed the Health and beauty training curriculum for Somerset County council gaining course accreditation with the new courses that she has led the development of. Including her IV training into her work she now leads the standardisation for the county complementary and beauty department.

LIV WATTS
Subjects to be taught- Sports therapy, Remedial Massage and taping and strapping
Liv is a local talent hailing originally from the village of Butleigh in Somerset. Having served her appenticeship as a masseur and Practise Manager at one of the region's leading Chiropractic Clinics in Glastonbury. After graduating with a BTEC in Sports Science and Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage she has enhanced her knowledge by studying at the Timoney Chiropractic College and continues to expand her repertoire including Ultra sound, PTC vision interferential device and Strapping and taping. She has also attended Physiotherapy conferences as a representative for professional equipment for the industry.
She has taught Sports Massage, body and Swedish in 4 of the main FE colleges in Somerset and her students sing her praise as a tutor and their results speak volumes for her style of teaching and skills she delivers. She delivers her vast knowledge with positive energy and an inclusive teaching style. Liv also manages her own thriving Remedial massage Practise based in Portishead and boasts a client base spanning much of Somerset!
Liv is a keen horse rider, regularly competing in three day event competitions.
