About the Principal / Director and our  tutors

Suzie Howe (BA(Hons), PGCE, Dip. Raw, MAR, CThA) has been in the business of health and well-being for the past 30 years. She has spent most of her career working in top health and sports clubs in and around London where her regular clients included many showbiz and sporting celebrities, members of the aristocracy and high-flying city professionals.

Eight  years ago Suzie decided to leave the bright lights of London to find the perfect location to create her dream training centre, Health Academics Ltd. She has a huge range of experience and knowledge and is constantly updating her own skills, she has travelled extensively for both pleasure and vocational research purposes and is well-respected as both a practitioner and tutor.

As a masseuse and therapist, Suzie has worked on the British Rugby team, international tennis players and athletes. The impressive list of prestigious health clubs where she has worked includes: Holmes Place, David Lloyd and the exclusive Harbour Club in Chelsea. Suzie still makes regular trips to London to treat several retained clients from her city days and also has a thriving practice in a treatment room at Health Academics.

She has also spent the past 16 years sharing her expertise by teaching at a variety of colleges throughout the country. These include: Watford FE College, Fulham & Chelsea FE College (Hortensia), St. Mary's College, Surrey, Filton FE College, Bristol and Norton Radstock FE College. Suzie has taught small private courses in health clubs and given many presentations to small and large groups of students and health professionals.

Suzie also has a degree in fashion and textiles from St. Martin's School of Art, London, which she intends to draw on in the future when she designs her own range of spa/salon work wear.

Since starting  Health Academics Suzie has  been researching into qualfications and curriculum structuring and aims to be more involved with  this side of the industry. She attends meetings, conferences and workshops with all the awarding bodies( VTCT, ITEC,City and Guilds and Btec ) to further her knowledge and understanding of the changes in the Complementary and beauty industry.

She sits on the Advisory board of AOR(Assocation of Reflexologists) representing VTCT.

I have been lucky to find some wonderful experienced tutors who have decided to come  and teach with me at HEALTH ACADEMICS.

 

Each person has been asked to join me because i have been impressed by their experience, skills, knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for their subjects/hands on professions. 

 



 

 

LUCY GEARING

Subjects to be taught - Baby massage, lymph drainage, First Aid training, Beauty ( we will be working with Holistic beauty treatments), eye treatments, waxing, manicure and pedicure. she is also involved in the development of the new CPD courses starting in September 2010 . She is also an internal verifier for the centre.

 

Lucy has been in the field of health and well-being for the past 16 years. she has spent most of her career working at her clinic in Somerset and has also worked as a therapist in some of the local Hotel Spas including Babington House where she delivered bespoke courses to the clients. She has delivered a variety of courses in the local area, working for the Somerset County Council training provider and local colleges. Lucy has worked with a very diverse learning groups from those with learning disabilities to Level 3 anatomy & physiology. On qualifying to Level 5 teaching she then developed the Health and beauty training curriculum for Somerset County council gaining course accreditation with the new courses that she has led the development of. Including her IV training into her work she now leads the standardisation for the county complementary and beauty department.
