VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

This course is the Level 2 Diploma the starting course for any new Beauty  therapist. This course can then lead onto the Level 3 Diploma in beauty Therapy Treatments or is a stand alone diploma.

It covers: Facial skincare and massage, Eyebrow and Eyelash tinting, Eyebrow shaping, Make-up, Manicure and Pedicure and Waxing.

Further optional bolt units are available: tanning, indian head massage, intrcution in applying make-up etc

 

How long is the course?

The course is 10 days or 18 evenings with extra 4  x 1/2 day for assessments. 

Each treatment will be covered in full before you move onto another, this means that you can be issued with certificate of pass for thatunit (subject to your final assessment and test pass), meaning you will be able to practice this therapy whilst completing the full diploma.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirments apart form a sound understanding of written and spoken English. You will be required to have a short interview in person or on the phone.

 

How is the course taught?

the course is taught through a series of lectures and practical sessions, utilising visual leaning aids, an interactive smart board and an internet link. Students will practise treatments upon one another during the practical sessions. There will also be one  to two practical sessions where students will perform a treatment on a member of the public. All practical sessions are taught where ever possible using organic products from local providers.

 

What equipment is required for the course?

 

Uniform:Students will be required to wear the college uniform of black short sleeved tunic top and black trousers ( not trailing on the ground) and flat black clean shoes( no open toes). Black socks or pop socks must be worn( a VTCT requirement) .Please note: this must be brought for the course and not an everyday pair of trousers or shoes.

PC/Laptop, internet access and own email address: This is for receiving notes, assignments and returning assignments once completed. also for researching answers for assignments.

kits:

Facials- There is no specific purchase required however you will need to purchase a couch at  somepoint for setting up in business so it is worth costing this in as an essential item. Ebay shops are very good for reasonible priced ones. You will also have to start thinking about the products oyu wish to use after qualifying.

Eye Treatments- you will need to purchase an eye treatment kit.

This will be around £25

Manicure and Pedicure- start up kit will be about £46 and then you will have to purchase nail varnishes, hand creams, scrubs and masks of your choice. Remember you will need all these things to run your business. If you like the Nubar range we use a kit can be put together for you.

Waxing- wax pots vary depending on which method you prefer. roller or pot. prices between £30 to £80

Make-up we use Barbara Barr as recommended by Make- up Artist from CHANGING FACES. However you may favour another brand and are welcome to use this. Start up kits available at various prices. A brush kit, alcohol spray and palette kit are available from College.

How is the course assessed?

 

The course is assessed by:

 

Assignments for each unit

VTCT multiple choice test papers for main units

Practical assessments for each practical unit ( 3 for each unit, one of which is carried out on last day/evening of course).

any ranges that have not been covered in classromm will form case studies at home.

 

How much does the course cost?

The total cost of the full Beauty Specialist course is £1100. plus VTCT assessment book £77 and VTCT life time registratioon fee £16. plus Practical days assessment fee of £50 per day ( this will be £200 for 4 practical assessments as eye treatments can be carried out with facial pracitcal day). Each £50 is payable of day of practical assessment.There is no charge for th 3 theory unit attached to this qualification.

 

There are different payment options:

 

option one:  Each unit is paid for separately as you move through the course @ £220 each practical unit. Each unit must be paid for before you start it. You must however purchase the assessment book and register with first unit.

 

Option two: Full payment. This carries a discount of 5%(£55). £1045. Meaning you recieve 25% off the last unit.
