VTCT Diploma in Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient therapy that is primarily used on the feet but can also be applied to the hands or even ears. This course has been upgraded and now contains advanced techniques and requirements to bring it in line with the NHS directory requirements. This will enable you to register once qualified.
 
How long is the course?

The course is run over 6 days 9.30- 5pm

Plus 1 day for Principals and practice of complementary therapies and Business Practice for complementary therapies if these units have not been covered in previous course. see course information for details and price.

 What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements apart from a sound understanding of written and spoken English. You will also be required to have a short interview either in person or over the telephone. 

This course contains a certain amount of written work. If you are worried about your litracy and language skills , we can arrange a on line test from your home to assess your level. If we both feel that it is not of the acceptable level we can than advice you of how to improve in this area to be able to complete/attend the course.

How is the course taught?


The course is taught through a series of lectures and tutorials, utilising visual learning aids, an interactive smart board and an internet link. Students will also practise treatments upon one another during the practical sessions. There will be two additional practical sessions where students will perform treatments on members of the public. All practical sessions are taught using organic products sourced from a local perfumer www.arcania-apothecary.co.uk. and waxes from www.songbirdnaturals.co.uk

Theory course content covered by homestudy and assignments or APL(accredited prior learning) this will apply at first to the Health & Safety and Anatomy & Physiology units. However if you have completed either the NEW 7 unit Diploma in Body Massage or Aromatherapy you will be exempt from  Principals and Practice and Business units Monday session.  There is a £50 discount for students who have completed either of these courses and who wish to register for Reflexology.

  • Knowledge of anatomy,physiology and pathology for complementary therapies(various options)- see course information   If you have studies the old A&P course then you can APL alot of work and just do a bridging course for the sections that need upgrading. There will a substantial reduction in the cost of the A&P for this depending on your previous work. Please discuss with centre.
  • Principals and Practices of Complementary Therapies( 1/2 day attendance compulsory if not attended with another course)- see course information
  • Reflective practice- continual throughout the course. Home study assignment



What equipment is required for the course?
Students will be required to wear the college uniform of a plain black short sleeve t-shirt (no logos) or black tunic top, black trousers and flat black clean shoes (no open toes). Please note: this must be a uniform bought for the course, we do not accept every day clothing Students will need to have access to a computer for typing assignments and will need an internet connection with their own email address to enable the distribution of course notes and, importantly, for the submission of assignments. Students will also need pens, notepaper , ring folder and coloured pencils unless they are working directly onto a laptop. Additionally, students will be also be given the option to purchase  recommended course books.

 

REMEMBER YOU WILL ALSO NEED A MASSAGE COUCH OR SPECIAL REFLEXOLOGY CHAIR FOR CASE STUDIES AND PRACTICE - try not to purchase until after the first weekend when we will be discussing couches and equipment.

 


How is the course assessed?

Seven unit course - case study requirements

The course is assessed by:

  •      Completed case studies. This consists of a minimum of 100 treatments ( with a minimum of 40 treatments on 4 to 12 clients) 10 others and 50 which must have reflective/assessment  on them.)

This could be  4 clients X10 treatments each

                          10 clients X 4 treatments each

                            5  clientsX 8 treatments each

                            8 clients X 5 treatments each  

The rest of the 50 treatments can be one off treatments and in certain cases shorter treatments.Using hand reflexology is anotehr option.

( At present we are trying to sort out that students will be able to work after the first 30 treatments with insurance under Health Academics Diploma. You will keep a log book and consultation forms for the 70 clients and on presentation and passing these you will recieve the VTCT Diploma)

 

How is the ocurse assessed?

 

  • A Practical Assessment  half day or evening session- 2 clients to be treated. We find the models.If non-competant on the first attempt there will be an addition charge for reassessment. 
  • Completed portfolio and assessment book
  • Continuous assessment throughout the course in the form of written assignments


For the Health & safety*

  •      Two Assignments
  •      A multiple choice 25 question paper set by VTCT and to be taken at the centre


For the Anatomy , Physiology and pathology *

  •     Twelve  assignments plus less common pathology assignment.
  •     A multiple choice 30 question paper set by VTCT and to be taken at the centre


 * Note: if you have taken any Health & safety or Anatomy & Physiology before the 1st August 2010 you can APL your work and just upgrade any areas that you have not covered. But you must resit the test papers for the NEW qualifications. The price for doing this can be discussed with the centre.

On completion of assignments and case studies, these will have to be printed up along with the feedback forms and put into folder or saved onto memory stick, Cd or card. This must be brought to the centre on your final practical assessment. If in paper form there will be an additional cost for sending folder/s back. There is no charge for memory sticks.

 

Is there any home study?
Independent study is an essential part of this course and you will be required to do practical and theoretical home study between college sessions. How many hours you set aside each week will be up to you and how quickly you wish to become qualified.

 


What qualifications will I gain?

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be awarded the Level 3 VTCT Diploma in Reflexology  and the Health Academics in Reflexology  Diploma

The cost of the course
Level 3 diploma in Reflexology ( 7 unit course)

£584 which  includeshandouts, teaching,assessing and verifying assignments .The fee of  £50 for half day final practical assessment is not included .

£87 Reflexology  for the VTCT registration fee (plus a one off life time registration fee of £16 if you have not taken a vTCT course before)

These units are required for the Body massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy Diplomas. Once completed these will not have to be taken again for Aromatherapy or Body Massage.

If you have not taken these in the past. If you have the old diplomas then you will have to just do assignments that you have not covered. there will be a small charge for marking and paperwork.
